FreeSpin, the anything-you-want visualiser

FreeSpin might look familiar to those who’ve seen CineSpin. However, rather than just handling movies, it can be configured to look at just about any kind of data in Freebase.

Robert has built a demo using Mike Love’s Influence nodes, to create a spinning browser of who influenced whom. Here’s a screenshot centred around D. H. Lawrence:

(Mike has also blogged about it here.)

The best thing about FreeSpin is that, thanks to some tweaks by Kirsten, you can completely change its behaviour by editing an XML configuration file. Just download the SWF and XML files, edit the config to use whatever types and properties you want, and create your own spinning visualisation. If you create your own demo, please comment here and let us know!
