Data mob: School days

schoolboys

Where did you go to school? I went to two different primary schools in and then to a private secondary school called — don’t laugh — Methodist Ladies’ College, all in Melbourne, Australia. Freebase has almost 7,000 schools, 5,400+ universities and colleges, and almost 20,000 educational institutions in all.

Make sure yours is listed! Check out this week’s data mob project and fill in your schools’ details.

If you ever went to school outside the USA, we’re particularly interested to hear about it. If you’ve got access to lists of schools in your region (perhaps from an education department website, or similar) you could even import them using our “Import List” tool.

Hey, *I* know MLC’s a girls’ school! But I didn’t find any pics of MLC girls in Freebase. Other than me and Cate Blanchett, that is, and I’m not sure that really works.

I noticed a couple bugs/irritations when editing my school:

    1.
    – look here: Carnegie Mellon University -> Educational Institution -> (edit)Students/Graduates
    – you have to scroll right in order to scroll down (ew)

    2.
    – look here: Carnegie Mellon University -> Educational Institution -> (edit)Students/Graduates
    – noticed that at least one person is listed several times so that the person can list all his/her degrees from the university
    – I’d prefer a format where the person is listed once and can hold several degrees
