Congratulations evening, creator of our 4 millionth topic

Last week we announced a competition to see who would be the creator of Freebase’s 4 millionth topic.

That topic was created this afternoon, and the winner is evening. Her entry on Tungaru Central Hospital in Kiribati, which she added as part of our Least Developed Countries data mob, was the 4,005,617th topic in Freebase, and the first over the 4 million mark not to be produced by a staff member or bot. (The actual 4 millionth was the Blue Creek, Alabama, added by our GNIS bot.)

Tungaru Central Hospital, in South Tarawa, Kiribati, doesn’t have an image in Freebase, but here’s where it is on a map:

Needless to say, Google “could not calculate driving directions” when I asked it.

In any case, thank you evening for all your hard work on this and other data mobs, and we’ll be getting in touch with you for your address to send you a Freebase tshirt and a copy of Clay Shirky’s book, “Here Comes Everybody”.
