If you’re a regular Freebase user you may have noticed that that the Help area has been going through some changes. New topics have been added, old ones have been updated to reflect new features and functions, and there’s a new organizational system, while behind the scenes the Help Topic type has undergone some revision as well. Here’s a few highlights you might want to check out:
New Topics
If you want to find out more about new Freebase features like the Filter View and the new Schema Editor, you should check out Using the Filter View, Creating New Types with the Schema Editor, and Creating and Publishing Personal Domains. Many older topics have also been updated with new information and screen shots to guide you through all aspects of working with Freebase.
Find Help Topics Faster with the Help Topic Type Filter View
Three new properties – Help Center, Audience, and User Level – have been added to the Help Topic type to make it easier to find topics that are of specific interest to you. When you view the Help Topic type in the Filter View you can now filter based on the Help Center (subject areas or domains for help topics), Audience (Data Contributor, Application Developer, and more) or User Level (All Users, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced). Upcoming features will enable you to save a view that’s of interest to you and then access it directly from your homepage, so you can have a custom Help Center tailored specifically to your needs.
Classify Your Domain’s Help Topics with the Help Center Property
Domain administrators can now create special Help topics for their domains, and the new Help Center property on the Help Topic type can be used to distinguish these from topics belonging to other domains. Check out Creating Help Topics for Your Domain for more info.
