Freebase user group meeting postponed; instead, beer!

Ordinarily we’d be having a user group meeting in mid-August, according to our not-very-official system of having one about every two months.

Unfortunately, we’re remodelling Freebase HQ around then, and attempting to squeeze a user group meeting in there — especially one as huge as last time! — would be a recipe for disaster.

So this time round, I’d like to invite our friends to join us for beer (or other beverage) on August 12th at the House of Shields on New Montgomery Street, just near Montgomery BART. We’ve booked the upstairs mezzanine area, so we’ll be gathering there from 6:30pm til at least 9pm.

My boss told me I have to be very clear about who’s paying for the drinks. I gather they’re still suffering some PTSD from last year’s Christmas party ;) So, to make things perfectly clear, Freebase is not paying for the drinks. However, I (Kirrily) will personally buy a drink for anyone who shows up and has either written an application using the Freebase API, created a non-stublike user domain, or has more than 10k contributions according to their user profile.*

So we can get an idea of numbers, please RSVP on Upcoming.org.

Our usual user group meetings will resume in September, so stay tuned for details of that.

* Excluding Metaweb staff. Other conditions may apply.

Drinking with the Freebase crew? God help me and bring out the milk thistle extract.
