This release introduces a few new features of interest…
- Views support deep queries – it’s now possible to ask deeper, more complex queries from Freebase’s view page. Using the ‘advanced filter’ option in the ‘edit view’ console, you can now create views such as ‘visual artists born in California‘ or ‘Films with filming locations in cities with over 3 million people‘ or ‘Books written by Metaweb staff‘
- Suggested views – the all views page on any base now displays suggested views sourced from common types found in the base. For instance, from the all views page for the Yale base, you can discover a list of board members that went to Yale.
- Simplified topic page interaction with bases – you can now add a topic to a base from the topic page (simply click ‘add’ next to ‘bases this belongs to’ in the lower right section of the topic page). We’re also displaying all the commons properties on the base version of a topic page by default. (more on this in a separate blog post to come)

Bug fixes of note
- Broken counts for views on explore page – counts were pretty inaccurate in many places on the site, particularly on the explore page. This has been improved.
- Commons homepages not showing related bases – commons pages, such as this one for visual art, weren’t showing the related bases.
- Remove option should exist in gallery view – the remove item option that appeared on the table view wasn’t working on the gallery view until now. Simply hover over an item and an ‘x’ button will appear that lets you remove an item.
