This release introduces a few new features of interest…
- Delete a view and remove its items from the base – there’s now a way to clean up your base if you accidentally added a bunch of things to it that don’t belong. When you delete a view that you’ve created you can choose to simultaneously remove its items from your base. An added improvement is that you can now delete views directly from the ‘all views’ page for your base.
- Edit Base: Improved Add Data UI – when you’re picking new topics to add to your base from the edit base interface, you’ll see better information displayed to help confirm you’re linking to the right topic.
- Commons category pages – you’ll notice links at the bottom of the page to different categories like ‘Arts & Entertainment‘ and ‘Society‘ — these are category pages which group together similar commons and also provide links to related bases. If you find these pages useful, let us know and we may link to them from the explore page. (And yes, the ‘money’ page will be going away soon since it has only one commons.)

Bug fixes of note
- problems with adding to constrained views – there were a number of cases where adding new topics or columns was generating an error.
- problems with importing to constrained views – the constraint was being ignored in many cases.

Ahem. Those of you paying attention over the holidays may have noticed that these features and fixes no longer appear to be present on Freebase.com. We had to roll back the code in an effort to resolve some issues we were seeing. We hope to have this release back in place early in the new year. Sorry for the confusion.
